  • Lindenwood University has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1921. Our most recent comprehensive evaluation and site visit was in October of 2013. The University's accreditation was reaffirmed by HLC following that visit.
  • HLC is one of six regional accrediting bodies and the one with the largest region (covering 19 states). It operates under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Regional accreditation involves accreditation of the institution as a whole (institutional accreditation). HLC does not accredit specific degree programs.
  • The most common problems/concerns cited by HLC peer reviewers during comprehensive evaluations are finances, assessment, enrollment, and strategic planning.
  • What an HLC on-site visit is like: 1.5 days in duration; team size of 3, 5, or 7 peer reviewers; the team evaluates the Assurance Argument and Evidence File plus the Federal Compliance Report, and it conducts a multi-campus review where relevant.
