nya Kamenetz, finance expert and author of Generation Debt, will close out the Lindenwood University 2009-2010 Speaker Series with a presentation at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room of Lindenwood’s Spellmann Center.
Admission to the event is free; the Spellmann Center is located on Lindenwood’s main campus at 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles.
Kamenetz is a frequent speaker on generational and innovation issues facing the “Millennials,” or those currently in their 20s and 30s. She has regularly appeared to discuss financial issues on news networks CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, CNBC, and NPR.
Currently, she covers the future of business, including sustainability and social entrepreneurship, as a writer for Fast Company magazine. Additionally, she reaches millions with her “Generation Debt” column as a personal finance expert for 20- and 30-somethings on Yahoo! Finance.
Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by the Village Voice, her series later became a highly regarded book entitled Generation Debt: The New Economics of Being Young. Written when she was just 24, Generation Debt (Riverhead Books, 2006), drew national media attention and passionate online debate with its argument that young people are facing unique financial challenges never seen or witnessed before.
In its second year, the Lindenwood Speaker Series included eight compelling and relevant speaker events that included the likes of Sudanese author John Dau, beat generation poets David Meltzer and Michael Rothenberg, and peace activist Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas Gandhi.
