Lindenwood Launches New Program at St. Louis Public Schools

Lindenwood University is now offering two graduate education courses to teachers in the St. Louis Public School District. The program allows teachers to get a master of arts degree with certification in special education simultaneously while attending classes in their own school buildings.

The courses are offered in the evenings at St. Louis Public Schools. Additionally, teachers can receive Lindenwood's educator's grant to tuition reduction. The tuition for the courses is comparable to the tuition rate for in-state universities. Full-time and adjunct professors are teaching the program on site, and the students benefit from LU's course format, which stresses individual attention. Rick Boyle, dean of the Lindenwood Education Division, said that he expects the program will grow considerably by the spring. This program is intended for teachers who wish to gain additional certification in special education. Lindenwood University offers similar programs with 19 different school districts throughout Missouri.
