The 2008-09 Lindenwood University Speaker Series will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a presentation by Josh Shipp, nationally known motivational speaker for young people.
Shipp’s presentation, titled “Don’t Be Average,” will be held in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room of the Spellmann Center on the main Lindenwood Campus, 209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo., 63301. The event is free and open to the public.
Shipp has written books, shared the stage with Bill Cosby and has appeared on MTV, Comedy Central, NBC, FOX, TLC, and in the Los Angeles Times. He has established an international reputation as an inspiring youth speaker with a simple and entertaining, yet challenging message.
Abandoned and abused as a child, Shipp strives to encourage his audiences to overcome struggles and live life to the fullest. Shipp’s presentation has been lauded for its humor and for its thought-provoking content. He has spoken to more than one million people over more than eight years about how his opportunities in life have resulted in his current success.
The Lindenwood Speaker Series will run though April 2009 and will include 11 events that will include a diverse array of speakers and topics.
