Shotgun Sports Team Receives Grant from MidwayUSA Foundation

The Lindenwood University Shotgun Sports Team has received a $21,879 grant from the MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc. through the Foundation’s Team Endowment Account Program.

In 2014, at the 46th Annual ACUI Clay Target Championships, in San Antonio, Texas, the team became the first collegiate shooting team to win 11 consecutive national championships.

“The success of our team is made possible through supporters like the MidwayUSA Foundation,” said Shawn Dulohery, head coach of the Shotgun Sports team. “I value our partnership with MidwayUSA and salute them for their support of our student athletes.”

Grant funds will be used to support the team’s expenses relating to travel, team uniforms, awards, and equipment not supported by university funding. The current Shotgun Sports team has 99 active members with a four-member coaching staff, which includes paid and volunteer positions.

Currently, Lindenwood’s Student Life Sports and Competitive Programs hold 50 team national championships and close to 100 individual national champions. The mission of intercollegiate sports at Lindenwood University is to advance learning, enliven campus life, develop leadership skills, and foster the personal growth of the student-athlete through the offering of a high-quality athletics program.

The MidwayUSA Foundation, Inc. provided grants totaling over $1.4 million to 475 youth shooting teams in this most recent grant cycle. Teams are eligible to apply for a grant once per year and can grow their Team Endowment Account through soliciting private donations, which are matched 1:1, earnings, and conducting fundraisers. The MidwayUSA Foundation also offer items to active teams to use as fundraisers, such as unique firearms, optics, and knives. Over 2,000 shooting teams across the country have money in their Team Endowment Account.
