Lindenwood University students will travel to Blackhurst Elementary School in St. Charles, Mo., on Friday, April 26, for Family Science Day. They will host science experiment stations that will be explored by the elementary students from 1 to 3 p.m.
“My colleague Nancy Snider and I will provide guidance to our science methods students as they work with the children at Blackhurst,” said Frank Thouvenot, PhD, assistant professor and chair of elementary education at Lindenwood. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for their students to have fun and learn about science while our students gain hands-on experience before they begin student teaching.”
Activities will be grade-specific and will include the exploration of germ busters, making ice cream, lava lamps, magnetic painting, water Olympics, and more. Family members of Blackhurst students are also invited to attend the event.
