Personal financial planning includes the core areas of personal financial management: investment planning, estate planning, risk management, retirement planning, employee benefits, and income tax planning. You will learn to analyze and evaluate the financial planning needs of individuals and small businesses and will learn how to effectively make recommendations contained in that financial plan. While a degree in personal financial planning will prepare you for a career in the financial services industry, the financial planning skills you acquire will serve you no matter what career path you choose.

Earning a Personal Financial Planning Emphasis in Business Administration at Lindenwood University

When you pursue a BA or BS in Business Administration, you may earn an emphasis in personal financial planning by completing 12 of your 21 credit hours of elective coursework in personal financial planning. You will take classes in consumer finance, plus the opportunity to study investments, retirement planning, estate planning, and risk and insurance.

You can earn a minor in personal financial planning at Lindenwood University. A minor is simply a secondary academic subject to add to your knowledge, whether it is of professional or personal interest.

A minor in personal financial planning requires 27 credit hours. You will study subjects like financial accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, and more.
