Candidates will be notified by Lindenwood that they are approved to apply with the partner school district for the PK-12 internship posting.  Candidates will follow the application process with the school district by completing the following steps:

  • Completing a LindenTeach Application.
  • Uploading a current resume, attaching it to the application.
  • Participate in a Lindenwood screening process via an interview.
  • Applying to the partner school district special substitute position posting.
  • Providing three letters of reference or support.
  • Uploading a current transcript.
  • Completing a letter of interest/introduction.

The partner district will contact candidates to put them through the district teacher screening interviews to simulate standard operating procedure. Each building principal will select candidates and offer them a position at their building pending board approval. Teacher candidates will be required to attend all district trainings and complete online training.

During the first semester, teacher candidates will receive a per diem rate equal to the district's substitute teacher rate for their internship. The building administrators will direct the teacher candidate’s daily schedule. Teacher candidates will be used as the building substitute to fill any vacant teaching, para or supervisory positions. Should no positions be available, the teacher candidates will be utilized to help with student supervision, benchmarking assessments, student tutoring or classroom aids.

During the internship semester, teacher candidates can work up to four days per week in collaboration with the assigned building site and administrator. A building mentor will be assigned to each teacher candidate for collaboration and support. Collaboration could include instructional planning, co-teaching, conducting assessments, and creating and implementing interventions. Teacher candidates are expected to engage in classroom activities, school and district activities and function as members of the school faculty.
