The Nurse Executive Leadership emphasis is designed for BSN-prepared registered nurses interested in acquiring competencies to obtain positions overseeing departments or divisions within health systems or to seek executive level positions in health care organizations.
The Executive Leadership MSN program consists of 41 credits and can be completed in seven semesters with a part time plan of study.
The Nurse Executive Leadership emphasis provides students the opportunity to learn and apply principles of budget, finance, and human resource management through Executive Leadership core coursework.
Students build on the Executive Leadership core coursework with additional courses in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement and Outcomes Management. The specialty focus coursework provides additional learning opportunities focused on system level assessment and redesign with the goal to improve quality, safety and outcomes within and across the spectrum of care.
Students conduct their practicum experiences under the supervision of experienced faculty and management preceptors.
Graduates will be eligible to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) leadership certification exams upon completion of the coursework and requisite experience.
