The Lindenwood University Human Services Division prepares graduates for employment in the human services professions of criminal justice, social work, non-profit administration, and christain ministry. At the undergraduate level, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Non-profit Administration, and Christian Ministry Studies can be awarded.
Graduate programs include a Master of Arts in Non-profit Administration and a Master of Sciences in Criminal Justice. The Human Services Division also includes Military Science, which enables students to earn appointments as commissioned officers in the United States Army.Full scholarships can be obtained by taking the Army ROTC advanced courses.
At the core of the Human Services Division degree curriculum is service learning that integrates the theory and research of the field with the practice application in the community.Throughout the curriculum, students are involved in community service projects, internships and opportunities to interact with leaders in the human services professions.Service learning includes Human Service Agency Management students hosting annual blood drives for the American Red Cross, Social Work students adopting families in need every Christmas, and Criminal Justice students participating in a student police academy during the J-term that includes visits from the SWAT team and canine units. Special opportunities for cross-cultural study in Criminal Justice and Social Work have even been offered through a low-cost trip to Rome, London and Paris.
All of the degree programs offer rewarding hands-on internships in community agencies and organizations. Many of our Division graduates have been hired as a result of these experiences.Employers report that they are highly satisfied with LU graduates as being prepared to work with people to meet a variety of human needs. Our graduates appreciate the individualized guidance and knowledge shared from a faculty with years of experience in their program area.
