ISEE - Policy Programs

ISEE

Many Americans are unaware of the power of applying basic political-economic principles to solving environmental problems. With these principles largely absent from the discussion, public opinion on environmental matters is often shaped by incomplete, inaccurate and hyperbolic information. The result is environmental policies that are too often inefficient or even counterproductive.

The Institute will contribute to improved environmental stewardship through publication and dissemination of policy research and materials presented at conferences and lectures. This enhancement of environmental problem solving will be built upon the foundation of an improved understanding of applicable economic fundamentals such as those listed on the ISEE Home page.

Similarly, ISEE research will emphasize three key themes for reforming the regulatory process. These themes are: (1) focus on results, not rules; (2) preserve individual rights; and (3) eliminate the "pursuit of perfection." These reforms can modernize our approach to environmental problem solving and, in the process, produce continued environmental protection and a strong, healthy economy.
