School of American Studies



The School of American Studies provides a personalized approach through small classes and close relationships between faculty and students. The faculty of the School of American Studies blends theoretical concepts within their field of study with real world applications to give students a diverse educational experience in a friendly environment.

The School of American Studies offers programs in American Studies, Interpretation and Recreation Leadership. Throughout the curriculum, students have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of hands-on projects, research applications and internships in the community, on campus and at the Daniel Boone Home. Graduate and undergraduate courses are focused on providing the understanding and tools necessary to compete in today’s professional environment.

The Daniel Boone Home and Historic Site in Defiance, MO is also under the care of the School of American Studies. The Daniel Boone Home is a multifaceted facility used for K-12 programs, Tourism, Boy Scouts of America, Interpretation, Summer Camps, Special Events along with academic courses in American Studies, Interpretation, Archeology, Biology, Recreation Leadership and Adult Workshops. The Boone Home allows students to gain resume building real life experiences in the students chosen field.
