Lindenwood University

Prospective Students

Dance04We invite you to visit campus and see the exciting activities and performance opportunities in the Dance Department.  Be sure to check out information on how to audition for the department.  You’ll need to fill out an application to be considered as a dance major.

This year, the Dance Department is excited to launch three new courses. We have constructed a Dance History course (DAN 37300) for dance majors that will involve an in-depth investigation into the origins of classical ballet up to the postmodern impulses, which help to shape dance as we see it today. Our Dance and Technology (DAN 37400) course helps students create an electronic portfolio of performance and choreography excerpts and assists with sound editing and projection design used to enhance choreographic works. Musical Theatre Dance (DAN 23000) focuses on styles and choreography used in professional musical theatre productions designed to prepare students for auditions.

Beyond our course offerings, we value the ability to give our students a multitude of performance opportunities. In addition to our three production shows and our annual trip to the American College Dance Festival Association conference, we seek opportunities for students to showcase their work in local venues such as Dancing in the Streets and National Dance Week St. Louis. Students are also given yearly opportunities to work with visiting dance professionals.

This spring, Lindenwood University students will perform Runaway (2008), choreographed by Larry Keigwin, originally commissioned by the Dance Division of The Julliard School, and restaged by KEIGWIN + COMPANY dancer Kile Hotchkiss.

We look forward to meeting you!  Meanwhile, here are some helpful links:
