Kenneth Jeffs

Instructor - Music Education

Kenneth Jeffs’s responsibilities include conducting the University Men’s Chorus, and teaching both Choral Composition/Arranging and World of Music online.  He holds at Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and Master's in Conducting from Missouri State University.  Presently, he is ABD with a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction – Music Education at the University of Missouri. His doctoral studies included concentrations in both choral studies and musicology.  His research interests cover topics on mentoring new music teachers, historical performance practice implementation in the choral classroom and male choir recruitment strategies for higher education.  His research has lead to publications in the Journal for the Society of Music Teacher Education and the Missouri School Magazine.

Kenneth Jeffs has taught vocal music at the elementary, secondary and collegiate level for over 30 years.  His choral ensembles have been honored with multiple invitations to perform at the prestigious Missouri Music Educator Association Conference/Clinic as well as tours in Italy and Canada.   Jeffs was named the Phi Kappa Lambda Outstanding Alumni by Missouri State University in 2004. 

Professor Jeffs is an active member of the NAfME (National Association for Music Education) and its state affiliate, the Missouri Music Educators Association He has served in leadership positions for the American Choral Directors Association and the Missouri Choral Directors Association. He is a veteran adjudicator for the Missouri State High School Activities Association large and small ensemble/solo festivals for both Missouri and Arkansas.
