Men's Head Coach: Roger Ellis
Coach Roger Ellis assumed the position as head coach of the women’s golf program at Lindenwood University in 1998. His team consisted of one player. In four years Coach Ellis has developed one of the top women’s golf programs in the Midwest. The Lady Lions won the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship in 2000, 2001 and 2002.The women’s golf team won the inaugural NAIA Region 5 championship in 2002. Nationally, the team has finished 3rd at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship each of the past two years.
Individually, Coach Ellis’ players have received All-American, All-American Scholar-Athlete, All-Region, and All-Conference recognition. Itzel Nieto, a returning senior, is the reigning NAIA Women’s Golf National Champion.
For his efforts, Coach Ellis was recognized as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He was named NAIA Region 5 Coach of the Year in 2002.
Coach Ellis is an Associate Professor of Management at Lindenwood University. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a JD degree from the University of Arkansas. He teaches classes in various areas of the law in both the graduate and undergraduate programs at Lindenwood. In addition, he coordinates the Sport Management degree program. In 2000, Ellis received the Emerson Excellence in Education Award. Prior to coming to Lindenwood in 1997, Coach Ellis practiced law for 18 years.
Coach Ellis is also a PGA Apprentice Professional and a member of the Gateway Section of the PGA.
Roger Ellis and his wife Peggy have a daughter, Elizabeth, who presented them their first grandchild, Alexis, who is soon to be a year old. Grandpa has already bought her a pair of Footjoy baby shoes and a golf club.
