Lindenwood is one of the nation's leaders in character education, resulting from our recognition of the need to educate the whole person...mind, body, and soul. Character and good sportsmanship are essential parts of the Lindenwood University academic/athletic experience. We believe that athletic competition builds character, just as education builds knowledge. Through both, we strive to produce well-rounded individuals.
Our athletic philosophy is inclusive, as is our educational philosophy: we believe all student-athletes, if they so choose, should have the opportunity to compete at the intercollegiate level in the sport of their choice, just as they have the opportunity to select what particular field of study they will enter.
We are committed to our students, both in the classroom and on the athletic field. It is that very commitment that sets Lindenwood apart from other universities. Intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of meeting the learning goals of Lindenwood University.
It supplements classroom instruction by providing outlets for physical and intellectual growth of students, for development of proper citizenship traits, and for significant learning experiences within the broad range of human values.
The 40 sports at Lindenwood University remain accountable to both academic and athletic excellence.
