Head Coach (Varsity): Derek Schaub
Derek Schaub is entering his fourth season as head coach of the men’s ice hockey program. During this time he has a combined record of 45-13-1, including a fifth place finish at last year’s national tournament. Before coaching the men’s ice hockey team, Coach Schaub led the Lions’ roller hockey team to two straight national championships. Derek also coached the men’s ice hockey team at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Away from the rink, Derek enjoys to spend time with his wife Kelley and three daughters Hayley, Ryley, and Keyley. All other free time is usually used up on the golf course.
Mark Turnipseed : Varsity Assistant Coach
Mark Turnipseed is coming into his first season as the men’s ice hockey assistant coach. Mark is transitioning to a coaching role this season, leaving behind an extensive career as a goaltender. Mark backstopped the Lion’s in their inaugural season as well as helping lead them to a 5th place finish in their first appearance at the ACHA National Championships. After over 20 years on the ice, Mark finished his career by representing Lindenwood at the World University Games in Austria in 2005 where he lead Team USA to their best ever record of 3-3. Mark’s other duties include coaching the goalie’s and defensemen, recruiting and hockey information director. Off the ice, Mark enjoys mountain biking, golf and many other outdoor activities but most of all loves spending time with his wife Julie.
