Lacrosse (M) - Coaching Staff - Return to Previous Page

Head Coach: Troy Hood (fifth season)

Troy Hood was introduced on June 1, 2003, as the second head coach in the history of the Lindenwood University men’s lacrosse program. One of the most respected coaches in the USL-MDIA, he has brought the lacrosse program at Lindenwood to the forefront on a national stage. His ability to recruit and coach high quality student-athletes over the past four years has been unmatched.

Hood’s career coaching record in four seasons at Lindenwood is 59-23; his career record at home in Hunter Stadium is an astonishing 40-4.

In 2007, the Lions, once again, repeated as GRLC Conference Champions (12-7 overall, 5-0 GRLC) with a 10-9 overtime win over rival Illinois. A No. 14 National ranking accompanied the Lions to their third straight National Championship tournament appearance. Hood’s largest graduating class (seven) included two All-Academic selections and one GRLC Conference Play-off MVP.

In 2006, Hood led the team to an amazing (17-4 overall, 9-0 GRLC) record, a national rankings as high as tenth, and their second straight USL-MDIA National Tournament appearance. In addition, he brought home his second straight GRLC title to St. Charles; while extending his GRLC record to 18-0 over the past two seasons. Hood also recorded the team’s first win ever at the USL-MDIA National Tournament in 2006 when the Lion’s defeated Oregon. To add to these great accomplishments, he had two players selected to the USL-MDIA All-America Team.

In 2005, Hood guided Lindenwood to a school record (19-3 overall, 9-0 GRLC) for wins, a GRLC Conference Title, a #13 National ranking, and a trip to the USL-MDIA National Championship Tournament in Minneapolis. He also had two players selected to the USL-MDIA All-America Team, and one All-Academic; both a first for the program.

Before coming to Lindenwood, Hood coached at cross-town rival, Washington University. He helped guide the Bear’s to a No. 22 national ranking and earned an invitation to the United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Tournament. He compiled a record of 18-13 in his two years at Washington and was named conference Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003.

From 1998-2001, Hood served as the head coach for the Webster Groves Lacrosse Club where he helped develop the varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams. In 2000, his team won the Central Conference Championship. No less than seven of his players acquired scholarships from NCAA Division I, II, and III schools. He also served as the President of the Missouri Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse from 2000-2002.

Hood, 39, graduated in 1990 from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunication and Broadcast Technologies. In 2006, he earned his Master of Arts degree in Business Administration from Lindenwood. Hood and his wife, Marian, reside in Manchester, MO with their daughter Alex, age three.
