Pre-Professional Health Sciences

Pre-Professional degrees offered in Traditional formats

Professional schools require a Bachelor of Arts or Science in any major with the following courses so most follow the BS in Biology which gives all required and recommended courses for Medical, Dental, Optometry, and Veterinary Schools:

General Chemistry with lab: 2 semesters

General Biology with lab: 2 semesters

Physics: 2 semesters

Organic Chemistry: 2 semesters

English: 2 semesters

Psychology: 1 semester

Students must also complete an entrance test (MCAT, VCAT, DAT or OAT).

Many health professions schools require or strongly recommend other courses such as biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, microbiology, statistics, and calculus.
