Accounting

Business ClassroomStudents pursuing a degree in accounting will acquire both theoretical and practical accounting skills.  The accounting degree allows students the flexibility to choose, upon graduation, to enter private industry or to meet the accounting and business credit requirements necessary in order to sit for the Uniform CPA exam.  Accounting students aspiring to become CPAs will be required to complete a total of 150 college credit hours to meet the Uniform CPA exam qualifications.  Students wishing to meet these requirements should consult with a faculty advisor to discuss such plans.

Our faculty members bring a wealth of professional and academic experience which gives them the capability to blend theoretical concepts with real-world applications to give business students a diverse and useful education experience.

Career paths in accounting are increasing in number and complexity due to changing financial laws and regulations and greater scrutiny of company finances. Some possible career accounting career paths might be accountants, auditors, state and federal government accountants and auditors, corporate accountants, small business accountants, forensic accountants, and many more.

If you are interested in a degree in accounting, we invite you to contact the Division of Business and Entrepreneurship to learn more.
