Education Specialist

The Educational Specialist in Educational Administration is an advanced degree which leads to certification at the superintendent level in the state of Missouri. The program will prepare the student with skills necessary to operate a school district, advise and make recommendations to a board of education as well as the community, and to face challenges and discover solutions in the fast-paced, evolving world of education.

The proposed coursework will be designed to meet the competencies and specific course requirements established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for certification for those positions.  Students must pass the Praxis II, School Leaders Licensure Assessment to be certified.  This program requires a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework at the 60000 level.  Applicants must possess a valid initial principal certificate to be admitted to this program.  Up to six credit hours of coursework from a master’s degree in School Administration may be transferred into the EdS.

For more information, please contact Dr. Steven Suess, Department Chair at (618) 239-6092.
