For students with strengths in reading, writing, and analytical thinking, the English major is nearly ideal. The English major at Lindenwood University–Belleville offers students a broad grounding in the historical traditions of English-language literature from Britain, the United States, and around the world, while teaching students to write persuasively and creatively in any setting. Within their courses, students will gain a familiarity with literary styles and techniques while grappling with larger theoretical issues and concerns that will enhance their mental agility, intellectual curiosity, and concern for global citizenship. Students may choose from one of two emphases: literary/critical or creative writing.
