Thank you for your interest in running for an officer position with Lindenwood Belleville Student Government Association (LSGA).
Officer elections for the LSGA take place each spring term during the month of April. These one year positions take affect the day after spring graduation. In order to be placed on the ballot, each student wishing to run for an officer position must fill out a candidate profile and submit it to the Torrin Suedmeyer (LSGA Staff Advisor). Torrin is located in the lower level of the Alan J. Dixon Center (Student Development and Resource Center, D100). LSGA Mission Statement
The mission of the LSGA is threefold: We are committed to amplifying the voice of LU-B students, upholding the standards set by the LU-B administration, and providing campus leaders with the tools needed to build a thriving and engaging campus culture.
The LSGA is committed to the highest form of ethical student representation. The LSGA shall seek out, identify and act upon student concerns in a constructive and effective manner while collaborating with the appropriate LU-B offices, programs and departments. The LSGA shall aid in facilitating the academic, social, spiritual, and physical well-being of the entire LU-B student body as set forth in the Lindenwood University-Belleville mission statement.
Requirements for LSGA Officer Positions
The positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Events Coordinator, Public Relations Officer and Senators are elected positions. The position of Speaker of the Senate is chosen by the LSGA Advisor, LSGA President and Director of Student Life and Leadership. Additionally, two (2) Senate positions will be reserved for incoming freshmen and be appointed by the Director of Student Life and Leadership, LSGA Advisor, and LSGA President.
In order to serve as an LSGA Officer, students must be at sophomore, junior, or senior status and must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Student must be of upstanding character and not currently under any form of warning, suspension or other university sanction. Student must be actively enrolled as a full time student.
Officers will also be required to attend bi-weekly Executive Board meetings, bi-weekly LSGA General Assembly meetings and all LSGA sponsored events.
