Degree Requirements - MBA Int'l Student Programming

Frequently Asked Questions  |  International Student Center

International Student Programming
To best serve the needs of the international graduate student community, an international student program exists within the business school itself, working in conjunction with the university International Office to support graduate business students. Among the support services that are coordinated from within the international student business program are (1) international advising (2) new student orientation, and (3) academic English language instruction.

Orientation to Business Programs
Graduate programs for all international students begin on the first day of international student orientation. During orientation, students will complete an English language assessment, receive information regarding business program requirements, meet with an academic advisor, and enroll in classes. (Note that any international student who is not able to arrive to the university in time to participate in the orientation program may be required to wait to begin his or her business program until the start of the subsequent term.) For arrival, check-in, and orientation dates, please refer to the academic calendar in the graduate student catalog or to the calendar link of this website.

Orientation Schedules

Fall 2 2013
Spring 2 2014

English Preparedness Program (6 credit hours)
Based on the results of the English language placement taken during orientation, students will either (1) enter directly into their academic program or (2) enroll in English language courses in conjunction with their enrollment in degree program courses. (Any student whose English language placement exam indicates a need for more comprehensive English study may be placed into a semester-long English program prior to enrolling in the business program.)

The English language courses below are required for international students who, based on the results of the English language placement exam, are determined to need academic language instruction at the start of their academic program. The courses will be taken consecutively during the student’s first two MBA terms.

EPB 05010 Academic Writing and Presentation I (3 credits)
EPB 05020 Academic Writing and Presentation II (3 credits)
