On Wednesday, October 8, Lindenwood University hosted its first Distinguished Executive Lecture of the 2003/04 season. The one-hour program was held in the Anheuser-Busch Leadership Center (4th floor) in the Spellmann Campus Center. James Issler, President and COO, H.H. Brown Shoe Co., Inc. spoke on “Business Selection.” Mr. Issler is a dynamic speaker with a message particularly appropriate for those on the verge of beginning their careers or considering a career change. The lecture was co-hosted by the Division of Management and the Institute for Study of Economics and the Environment. James Issler’s current employer, H.H. Brown Shoe Company, Inc., is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., a holding company owning subsidiaries engaged in a number of diverse business activities. After more than a century of growth and diversification, H.H. Brown Inc. has become a major supplier of premier work shoes and boots, rugged outdoor footwear and men’s and women’s comfort casual shoes. Mr. Issler previously was President of Outdoor Sport, Inc. and Vice President and General Manager of Naturalizer, a division of Brown Group, Inc. He received his B.S. and B.A. from University of Missouri, and MBA from St. Louis University.
