Lindenwood Arts Endowment

Focusing on the Arts

Lindenwood is committed to
  • providing diverse opportunities for students to engage the arts within an integrative liberal arts curriculum,
  • affording cultural enrichment to the surrounding community.
One of the most important measures of any society is the quality and abundance of its artistic endeavors. Over time, a community that invests in the arts is a community whose diverse resources support progress and ensure a rich and secure future.

Supporting the Arts

Highlights of our rich support for the arts include the following:
  • The J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, home to the 1,200-seat Broadway-style Bezemes Family Theater, the Emerson Black Box Theater, the high-tech Boyle Family Gallery for showcasing traditional and multimedia artwork, and multiple classrooms and rehearsal studios.
  • Undergraduate degrees in studio arts, graphic design, fashion design, dance, music, music performance, music business, theatre, acting, stage management, musical theatre, and technical theatre/design.
  • Graduate degrees in studio art, fashion design, and theatre.
  • Professional series in which students have opportunities to work side by side with professionals in all aspects of theatrical production.
  • Sponsored annual productions, including three decades of A Christmas Carol, that bring live theatre to thousands of children.
  • One of a handful of All-Steinway Schools worldwide.
  • Opportunities for area nonprofits to use state-of-the-art facilities.
  • 24 full-time arts faculty members committed to student success.
  • Expert production staff.
  • State-of-the-art studios for graphic, fashion, and theatrical design.
  • The AT&T Music Computer Lab.
  • The Charter HD television studio with a state-of-the-art film lab.

Investing in the Arts

To continue providing innovative arts education and rich cultural development, the Board of Directors recently committed $2 million to establish the Lindenwood Arts Endowment. Our campaign to raise an additional $1 million is in full swing, and your support for this important initiative will help us to do the following:
  • Offer expanded programming at the J. Scheidegger Center that will attract audiences from throughout the Greater St. Louis community. Serving over 100,000 guests since the center's opening in 2008, Lindenwood's arts programs are poised to enrich our region with vibrant cultural education for decades to come.
  • Expand current academic arts programs.
  • Fund scholarships for students with artistic and academic merit.
  • Establish artist-in-residence programs.
  • Provide access to theatrical resources for nonprofit groups.

How can I give?

Individuals and corporations can support these endeavors in a variety of ways. For instance, by giving to the endowment
  • $250,000 will sponsor three performances of A Christmas Carol,
  • $100,000 will fund an artist-in-residence program,
  • $25,000 will establish an endowed scholarship for a deserving student,
  • $5,000 will make theatre facilities available for a local nonprofit group.
