Student Learning Outcomes

The major in Advertising, Public Relations, and Corporate Communication aims to graduate highly skilled, professionally adaptable, and academically accomplished individuals.  Such majors will be able to take advantage of a wide range of professional opportunities.  Those include, but are not limited to, the obvious managerial affiliations within the advertising, public relations, and corporate communication/administration industries.  They comprise as well managerial opportunities across the entire spectrum of non-profit organizations and municipal management and administration.

Realizing that aim requires of students the following learning outcomes in the program:

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate mastery of professional oral communication skills.
  2. Students will be able to demonstrate mastery of professional written communication skills.
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate professionally competent analyses of media messages.
  4. Students will be able to discuss competing social and commercial constraints upon creation and production of public media messages.
  5. Students will be able to demonstrate mastery of behaviors expected of competent media professionals in public performance of professional duties.
