The journalism program prepares students for careers in the field by fusing classroom instruction with practical experience through campus media outlets. Students build a foundation for success by understanding journalism’s history, ethics, governing principles and role in a global society. Whether through print, broadcast or electronic means, students learn news gathering and story composition techniques, preparing them for multimedia jobs in a converged world.
The program offers sequential levels of writing and reporting, in addition to multimedia journalism and technology integration. Students will build their portfolios by gathering news and telling stories through the school’s campus media news outlets. Journalism majors have the option of a Print or Broadcast emphasis. Students electing the broadcast emphasis will enroll in an immersion program at LUTV News known as the Super Semester.
The Journalism faculty at Lindenwood University includes experienced writers and reporters who bring years of professional experience into the classroom. Using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, faculty members create meaningful connections between the practice’s theory and industry evolution.
