The Center for Economics and the Environment (formerly known as the Institute for the Study of Economics and the Environment) is one of three focus centers of the John W. Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise.
It was founded in 2002 with a focus on applying economic principles to environmental challenges. In addition to its longstanding attention to the natural environment, the CEE has expanded its focus to include policy-oriented research on the business and economic environment.
The CEE, which is directed by Dr. Howard Wall and has a distinguished group of research fellows, is recognized as one of Missouri's top departments for economics research,
