Graduate Assistant Opportunities

GA - Grounds Maintenance

Location: Saint Charles Campus

Start Date: August 2013

Purpose of Position: Help the grounds department maintain the beauty and safety of the campus.   

Duties & Responsibilities: Assists the grounds director in planning and supervising of landscaping and grounds maintenance activities. The assistant will help with planting, cultivating, watering, fertilizing, mowing of lawns, and cultivating, pruning, and transplanting of trees and shrubs. Supervises and performs the removal of leaves, grass, dirt, and rubbish from grounds. The responsibilities include the supervision of and the use, maintenance, and repairs of tractors, cultivators, mowing equipment, and other tools and machinery. Perform related duties as required.

Position Requirements: Ability to work with minimum supervision. Cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, and students. Working conditions involve exposure to outside weather conditions.

Education Requirements: Must be enrolled as a Graduate Student

Experience Requirements: Potential graduate assistants should have prior experience in Work and Learn in the grounds department or comparable grounds maintenance experience.
