Assistant Coach - Men’s Volleyball

Type of Position: Athletics

Location: St. Charles

Starting Date: July 1, 2015

Purpose of Position: To assist the head coach in all areas of running an NCAA Division I/II men’s volleyball program. Lindenwood University plays in the MIVA conference and strives to continually improve its position within the conference.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will be negotiated with regard to strengths/weaknesses. However, the main priorities are:

  1. Be a proactive recruiter. The successful candidate will be acting as the main recruiter. Know the NCAA recruiting regulations. Coordinate recruiting contacts, calls, emails, videos, etc. for the entire staff. Attend tournaments, talk to recruits in person, set up campus visits, etc.
  2. Be a proactive fundraiser. The candidate will be in charge of campaign(s) to raise program funds.
  3. Be a proactive coach. Buying into our philosophy is paramount. On the floor, we are disciplined, relentless workers who compete. On and off the floor, we want to be a family. Learn the philosophies and techniques and be able to teach them.

Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience Requirements: College playing experience and college coaching experience are required. Must be able to be active, demonstrating skill sets, and have the ability to control the ball while entering into drills. A valid driver’s license is required.

Hours/Days: This is a full-time position. Some responsibilities are time-flexible (negotiable office hours, phone calls for recruiting/travel, emails, film breakdown, etc.). The inflexible requirements are as follows: Be available at the request of the head coach; Be available to recruit vigorously throughout the year (tournaments, contacts, etc.); Attend all practices, small group sessions, meetings, and matches; Attend all preparation for said practices, etc.

Contract Length: 12 months
