Foreign Languages - French - The Pulitzer Project
The Pulitzer Project
This semester (Spring 2007) seven French majors participated in an exciting project wherein they learned to give guided tours in French of the exhibit Portrait/Homage/Embodiment at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts in St. Louis.
The students made many trips to the Pulitzer, familiarizing themselves with the exhibit, practicing, and finally, giving the tour to four groups: two composed of area high school students, one composed of French students from Lindenwood University, and one for the French-speaking public in the St. Louis area.
The course was taken as a three-credit January Term course. In addition to preparing the tour, students kept journals, in French, of their experience, prepared French descriptions of the works for the high school students, and contributed to the Pulitzer Foundation's blog and wrote research papers on one of the artists.
