Alumni Office looking for 2010 Reunion Class Agents

Want to be involved? The 2010 Homecoming and Reunion is just around the corner and the Alumni Office is looking for individuals from this year’s honored classes to serve as class agents. This year’s honored classes are the classes of 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005.

You can help spread the word about the class reunion celebration and weekend’s events by contacting your Lindenwood friends and classmates by phone, email, and Facebook, at your convenience. Invite them to join you at the 2010 Homecoming and Reunion Weekend and to get involved in helping with the reunion plans. We’ll provide you with the contact lists for alumni from your class.

Over the years, we have also lost contact with some of your former classmates from this year’s honored classes. Help us find them by viewing a list of our “Lost Lions”. Please visit us online at www.lindenwood.edu/alumni.

Help us find your classmates, so our 2010 Homecoming and Reunion is a success!

J-Term Class Renovates Boone Home Gift Shop

Lindenwood University students recently renovated the gift shop at the Historic Daniel Boone Home. The project was part of a “Special Topics in Retail Merchandising” course through which students earned three credit hours in under a two-week period.

Doug Cannon, Department Chair and Assistant Professor of Retail Merchandising, led the team of 10 participants through the modified January term-class. J-term classes typically take place from Jan. 4-22, but renovation of the Boone Home Gift Shop was expected to take only eight working days.

The team began on Monday, December 14, and had a deadline of being finished before Christmas Eve. Cannon said, “It was a small window and hectic to say the least, but it was fun for the students and a great opportunity to expose them to some practical applications with regards to retail merchandising.”

The class was successful in meeting its deadline and the class completely removed the contents of the entire building. The students painted and sealed the shop, as well as renovated the building’s restrooms. They also brought in new merchandise and displays.

“This was an ideal situation for the students to apply their background, education, and experience,” said Cannon. “We successfully upgraded the facility and made it something the students and Boone Home staff can take pride in, and that visitors can enjoy.”
