Submissions should be sent via email to TheLindenwoodReview@lindenwood.edu. In the subject line, indicate the genre of your submission (fiction, poetry, or essay). Include a brief bio in the body of the email. Attach the submission as a single Word document.
We welcome submissions from new writers as well as established writers. (Note: current Lindenwood University students are not eligible to submit their work.) Do not send work that has been published previously, whether online or in print. We allow simultaneous submissions but ask to be notified immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Submissions are accepted from June 1 through November 1 of each year. Only one genre should be submitted by each author per year.
Poetry: Up to five poems may be submitted per year. Poems should be single-spaced and should include author contact info on each page. Please include all poems in a single Word document.
Fiction: One short story (of any length) may be submitted per year. Include author contact info on the first page of the story; include the author's last name and page number on each subsequent page. Stories should be double-spaced.
Personal Essay: One essay (of any length) may be submitted per year. Include author contact info on the first page of the essay; include the author's last name and page number on each subsequent page. Essays should be double-spaced.
We look for fiction with believable characters and a vivid story; poetry with original, interesting use of language; well-crafted, honest essays; and mostly, work that moves us.
The Lindenwood Review is a print journal and is published annually each spring. Contributors receive two copies of the issue in which their work appears. If you have any questions, please email us at TheLindenwoodReview@lindenwood.edu.
