The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has invited Lindenwood University Professor James D. Evans to present a paper at the 105th annual meeting of the NCA in Chicago April 1-4, 2000.
Evans, who is dean of faculty dean of sciences and professor of psychology at Lindenwood, will present a session on "Mission Restatement via Heritage Rediscovery: A Case Study." The paper will discuss how, in the past decade, Lindenwood has become successful by moving back toward the basic historical and philosophical mission of founders and by adaptive ways to express its fundamental purpose within an ever-changing higher education landscape.
Eventually, the paper will be included in a conference publication, "A Collection of Papers on Self-Study and Institutional Advancement."
Evans, of St. Charles, has taught at Lindenwood since 1974. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. from Iowa State University and a B.S. from Geneva College. He is co-chair of Lindenwood's Mission and Purpose Committee.
Lindenwood University is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the NCA. North Central accredits colleges and universities within a 19-state region. The annual meeting serves institutional representatives and consultant-evaluators from that region. Approximately 2,400 faculty and administrators from higher education institutions attended the 1999 conference.
