Education students chosen for national office
March 30, 2000
Two Lindenwood University education students were selected as officers for the Missouri State Student Council for Exceptional Children at a state meeting held at the Tan-Tar-A Resort March 24-26.
Lindenwood senior Susan Baker of Denton, Texas was elected vice-president and Katie Waldram of St. Peters, Mo. also a senior, was named treasurer.
Two other students, juniors Tracy Pohlman of St. Ann, Mo., and Kelly Bothe of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Mo., along with associate professor of education Rebecca Panagos, Ph.D., also attended the meeting.
All four students are officers for the Lindenwood Student Council for Exceptional Children. The university chapter holds monthly meetings and fundraisers. The students have also adopted a classroom for the past three years, the cross-categorical room at Coverdell Elementary School in St. Charles. They design a number of activities for the young students, including a pen-pal program and an annual party.
Panagos, Waldram and Lindenwood senior Laura Schultz of St. Charles, Mo., will attend the International Conference of the Council for Exceptional Children in Vancouver, British Columbia in April.
