May Co. chief to address record number of graduates

Gene S. Kahn, president and chief executive officer of The May Department Stores Company, will be the guest speaker for the 173rd commencement ceremony at Lindenwood University on Saturday, May 20. Undergraduate and graduate degrees will be conferred upon nearly 1,700 graduates, making this the largest commencement ceremony in Lindenwood history.
Raymond W. Harmon, chairman and chief executive officer of HASCO International, Inc., will be the featured speaker for the Lindenwood baccalaureate service to be held Friday, May 19 at the Robert F. Hyland Performance Arena. Harmon, of St. Charles, is the chairman of Lindenwood's board of directors.
During the baccalaureate service, Anne Pals (B.A., class of 1965) of St. Charles will receive the Lindenwood Alumni Merit Award for Volunteer Service and Randy Karraker (B.A., class of 1984) of St. Louis will receive the Lindenwood Alumni Merit Award for Professional Accomplishment. Pals is a community leader and volunteer. She is also a member of the Lindenwood University Board of Directors. Karraker is a sportscaster with KMOX-AM. He hosts the Blues Post-Game Open Line and Sports Open Line.
Janet Greiwe of St. Charles, Mo., is speaking for the senior class during Saturday¹s commencement. During the ceremony, an honorary doctorate of humane letters will be bestowed upon Kahn.
The 2000 Lindenwood University Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. on the quadrangle of the main campus in St. Charles. The Lindenwood University Commencement ceremony is open to the public.
