A recently-completed survey of school administrators and principals who hire college graduates as first-year teachers shows a high level of satisfaction with the performance of Lindenwood University teacher education graduates.
Dr. Richard Boyle, dean of the education division at Lindenwood, said the survey was sent to 122 administrators who have hired LU teacher education graduates. The survey was based on 10 standards for beginning teachers as adopted by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Boyle was pleased with the results.
"Ninety-eight percent were rated above average to excellent when compared to teachers who graduated from other institutions," said Boyle. "This is a strong statement about the quality of our program."
All 152 people who completed Lindenwood's teacher education program last year are now employed as teachers. Boyle said they all are knowledgeable about the MAP standards and "the strategies needed to be effective in the classroom."
