Lindenwood University officials on Thursday unveiled the new A-Plus-Plus Scholarship, designed to attract some of the best and brightest students from St. Charles County and the surrounding area.

Those in the program also will participate in the Work-and-Learn program to receive the full tuition award. Students in the program will only be responsible for costs associated with room, board, books and fees.

"We want to make it affordable for the best area students to attain a private university degree," said Dean of Admissions John Guffey. "The citizenship and academic ability that marks these students is precisely the thing that colleges want on their campuses. We are very interested in having these local high-level students attend Lindenwood."

Guffey said Lindenwood already attracts a large number of students who have earned Missouri Bright Flight Scholarships (ACT score of 30 or higher).

"Our award for Bright Flight scholars has been very popular," said Guffey. "We feel it is important to also provide something for the students in the 25-29 ACT range, especially those who are active in the community. Keeping those students close to home is an asset to our community, and it enhances our campus as well."
