Bluegrass at the Boone Home features numerous performers

June 14, 2001

Folklore and foot-stompin’ will be at its best June 30-July 1 during a two-day festival of Bluegrass music at the Historic Daniel Boone Home.

Featured mainstage performers include The Split Rail Band (Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.); Cousin Curtis and Uncle Lindell (Saturday at noon and 4 p.m.); The Gordons (Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.); Linda Coil (Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.); and The Buckhannon Brothers (Sunday at noon and 4 p.m.).

The will be a special gospel presentation Sunday morning in Old Peace Chapel.

Saturday’s special guest artist is Robert Butler, Fiddler and Folklorist. He performs at 2 p.m., belting out tunes about how our forefathers traveled west with pioneers, and telling tale after tale. Butler’s appearance is funded in part by the Missouri Humanities Commission, the State of Missouri and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Around the Boone Home grounds at various times on both days will be musicians, folkdancers, re-enactors and demonstrators who will bring the frontier experience to life.

There will be handcrafted items for sale, and open tours of the beautiful 1810 Daniel Boone Home and Boonesfield Village.

Admission to Bluegrass at the Boone Home is $12 for adults and $10 for seniors 55 and older. Children 4-11 are $6. For more information on the event, please call (636) 949-4858.
