LU classes will be offered in Moscow Mills

December 9, 2002

Lindenwood University has announced plans to expand into Lincoln County and offer undergraduate and graduate classes beginning next month.

Campus officials signed an agreement Monday with the Lincoln County R-3 School District, calling the expansion a “partnership with the community.”

“We are excited to partner with Lindenwood,” said Lincoln County R-3 Superintendent John Lawrence. “Our agreement really is unique and could be considered a model across the state. Lindenwood is an energized entity and has made an enormous impact educationally and culturally in this region.”

Lawrence went on to say he expected the partnership with Lindenwood would grow and “benefit the school district and the community for many years to come.”

Lindenwood will conduct registration nights for new and transfer students from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 12 at the newly renovated Moscow Mills Higher Education Center. All members of the community are invited to stop by and speak with admissions counselors.

“We are making a strong commitment to bringing affordable higher education to this county,” said Lindenwood University President Dennis Spellmann. “We have been so warmly received. I think this is going to be a longstanding partnership.”

Based upon the amount of interest from the community, adult evening classes could be offered as early as January at the Higher Education Center. Additional evening classes will be offered at the nearby Southern Air Education Center in Wentzville; numerous traditional “dual credit” courses will also be offered for the spring semester at the Higher Education Center for Troy Buchanan High School students.
