Joint agreement to aid accounting transfer students
December 12, 2002
Lindenwood University and St. Louis Community College have signed a joint agreement that assists SLCC accounting majors who want to transfer to Lindenwood to get their bachelor’s degree.
The agreement was signed Wednesday by Lindenwood President Dennis Spellmann and SLCC Chancellor Henry Shannon. The agreement clarifies transfer policies and procedures between the two institutions, they said.
Jay Hardman, LU’s dean of management, said the bachelor of arts degree in business adminstration with an accounting emphasis offers many opportunities in public accounting (CPA) as well as in the private sector. He said some of the careers that an accounting graduate may pursue include auditor, business analyst, tax accountant, banker, mortgage lender, accounts receivable, IRS, controller and chief financial officer.
Transfer students from SLCC who have completed the associate in applied science degree will transfer and have full acceptance into their designated Lindenwood program, according to the agreement. Those students will have access to the same financial aid, scholarship funds, advising and other services as native Lindenwood students.
