For the second year in a row, Lindenwood University in St. Charles has won the prestigious Directors’ Cup, given each year to the top NAIA and NCAA athletic programs in the country.
The 2003 Directors’ Cup winners were announced this week at the National Association of Collegiate Directors or Athletics convention in Orlando, FL.
Lindenwood won its second NACDA Directors Cup by posting 746.5 points, 28.5 points ahead of Simon Fraser University (B.C.), which had won the cup five years in a row prior to Lindenwood’s ascension.
The Lions won the national championship in men’s outdoor track and field and also posted six additional top 10 finishes, including women’s outdoor track and field (2nd), wrestling (2nd), women’s soccer (3rd), women’s golf (6th) men’s swimming (6th) and women’s swimming (7th).
Stanford won the Directors Cup for NCAA Division 1 schools, while UC-Davis and Williams (MA) won for NCAA Divisions 2 and 3.
