'Godspell’ Will Continue Mainstage Season

October 9, 2006

The Lindenwood University Theatre Department will continue its 2006-2007 Mainstage Season with the musical “Godspell” at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 27-28 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Oct. 28. All performances are in the Lindenwood Cultural Center, 400 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles, approximately two blocks north of the main Lindenwood campus.

“Godspell,” one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, includes music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and was originally conceived by Michael Tebelak. The musical is based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew and features a sparkling, seminal score that includes a string of recognizable songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day.” As the cast of actor/clowns makes its way through “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” “Save The People,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “Bless The Lord,” “All For The Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side,” we, as audience members, get to see the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and heartrendingly to life.

Ticket prices are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and $8 for students (ages 12-18). Group rates are available. For reservations, contact the Box Office (located in Roemer Hall on the main Lindenwood campus) at 636-949-4878. The box office is open from 1 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The executive director of the production is Janet Strzelec. The musical director is Morella Briones. The stage manager is Suzy Snow. The cast includes Stacy Snyder, Jennifer Martin, Michelle Sauer, Anthony Tarvin, Devon Norris, Caitlin Brand, Sarah Greene, Michael Dowdy, Whitney Cornick, Tara Rispin, Shane Rudolph, Keith Parker, Brad Lewandowski, Peter Colombatto, and Luke Wall.

The choreographer is Janet Strzelec. The set and lighting designer is Donnell Walsh. The student set designer and master carpenter is Phillip Hughen. The sound designer/coordinator is Drew Matney. The student lighting designer is Stephanie Robinson. The properties mistress is Jeannette Mattingly. The costume coordinator is Shonelle McGill. The band director is Shane Williams.
