Tuition Increase Below National Average

Tuition for traditional undergraduate students at Lindenwood University will increase 3.3 percent to $12,400 in the fall of 2007.

Lindenwood's board of directors approved the increase on Friday. It is only the second tuition hike at Lindenwood in five years.

James D. Evans, acting president at Lindenwood, said the tuition increase was needed to cover increasing costs of new academic programs and technology.

"This increase essentially covers inflation," said Evans. "Lindenwood still compares quite favorably across the country. The average tuition increase nationwide is six percent."

Evans said the cost of room and board for Lindenwood's 3,500 residential students will increase by $200 to $6,200.

Adult students studying in Lindenwood's accelerated evening program will see a 5.5 percent increase to $2,610 per 9-credit hour cluster, Evans said.
