Shakespeare Festival to Present Free Show

March 29, 2007

The Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis will present its 2007 traveling production at Lindenwood University’s Cultural Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. The Cultural Center is located at 400 N. Kingshighway in St. Charles, two blocks north of the main Lindenwood campus.

The evening will include “Much a Doo-Wop About Nothing” and “Soothsayin’—A Stylin’ Julius Caesar.” These contemporary musical adaptations of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Julius Caesar” will be performed in that order by members of the Shakespeare Festival. Each performance will take about 50 minutes; there will be a 20-minute intermission in between and a question-and-answer period at the end with performers, the stage manager and other members of the Shakespeare Festival.

Admission to the performance is free, but tickets are required; to reserve tickets, please call the Lindenwood Box office at 636-949-4878. Box office hours are 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday. Tickets will be available starting Tuesday, April 3.

The Shakespeare Festival presents a different Shakespeare play each spring in Forest Park. This year’s production is the comedy “Much Ado About Nothing.” The play will be performed at 8 p.m. nightly (except for Tuesdays) from May 25 through June 17. “Green Show” attractions start at 6:30 p.m.; admission is free.

The Lindenwood Theatre Department will present its own Shakespeare production, “Richard III,” in the final play of its Mainstage Season at 7:30 p.m. on April 19-21 and 27 and 28 with a 2 p.m. matinee on April 21. For more information or to reserve tickets to “Richard III,” call the Lindenwood box office at 636-949-4878; box office hours are 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and between 1 to 5 p.m. on Fridays.
