Lindenwood University will hold its first-ever off-campus commencement exercises May 18-19 at the Family Arena in St. Charles; the keynote speaker during undergraduate ceremonies on Saturday will be award-winning television writer, producer and director Rift Fournier.
The undergraduate commencement May 19 and the Baccalaureate/graduate commencement (at 7:30 p.m. on May 18) were both moved to the Family Arena when the number of graduates and their guests became too large for Lindenwood’s Performance Arena. More than 800 graduating students will take part in the undergraduate ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday. Approximately 580 students are expected to take part in the graduate ceremony.
Fournier has worked in television at a variety of levels since the early 1960s, starting out as one of the youngest producers in television with “The Mike Douglas Show.” His credits also include “Kojak,” “Baretta,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Matlock,” “Wiseguy,” “Helltown” and “NYPD Blue,” in addition to a number of made-for-TV movies and many other projects. He has won numerous awards for his work in the United States and Europe.
Speaking at the Baccalaureate/graduate commencement will be John M. Primrose, scout executive and CEO of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A professional with the Boy Scouts of America for 34 years, during which he has won numerous awards for his work, Primrose has been scout executive and CEO of three of the top 25 major councils in the country.
Student speakers at the commencement ceremony will be undergraduate Hannah Reed, president of the Lindenwood Student Government Association, and graduate student Norma Browne.
Admission to both ceremonies will be limited to Lindenwood graduates and their guests.
