Noel Coward Comedy to Open Theatre Season
September 12, 2007
The Lindenwood University Department of Theatre will open its 2007-2008 Mainstage Season with “Blithe Spirit,” the smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages, by Noel Coward.
In this ingenious plot, novelist Charles Condomine invites into his placid country home an eccentric, breezy lady medium in order to learn the language of the occult. Little do Charles or his lovely second wife Ruth dream that the séance staged by the medium will summon back Charles’ first wife, now “passed over” for seven years. “Blithe Spirit” is funny, brilliant, and clever. Originally staged in 1941, it remains as fresh and as funny as ever.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 4, 5, and 6 and 11, 12 and 13. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors and $6 for students (ages 5-18).
The performances are held in Jelkyl Theatre, located in Roemer Hall on the main Lindenwood campus, 209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo., 63301.
