News Anchor/Author of 'Missouri Legends' to Speak
September 22, 2008
The 2008-09 Lindenwood University Speaker Series will continue at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Lindenwood’s Spellmann Center with John Brown, award-winning news anchor and author of the new book, “Missouri Legends.”
The event will be in the Spellmann Center’s Anheuser-Busch Leadership Room; Lindenwood’s campus is located at 209 S. Kingshighway in St. Charles. Admission is free and open to the public.
Brown, who is an anchor and reporter for FOX 2 News in St. Louis, will speak about “Missouri Legends,” which profiles more than 125 famous Missourians, including outlaw Jesse James, President Harry S. Truman, poet T.S. Eliot, composer Scott Joplin and contemporary figures like actor Brad Pitt and musician Sheryl Crow. How about Samuel Clemens, George Washington Carver, Walter Cronkite, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Sam Walton, Josephine Baker and Steve McQueen? They all have the Show-Me State in common.
Prior to working at FOX 2, Brown was the news anchor of The Daily Buzz, a nationally syndicated morning show. He has also served as lead news anchor for KSPR-TV in Springfield, Mo.
The Lindenwood University Speaker Series, which is new this year, started earlier this month with Josh Shipp, motivational speaker for young people. The series includes 11 speaker events in all and extends through mid-April.
