Newberry, Brock to speak at Lindenwood Commencement Ceremonies

Lindenwood University will host its commencement exercises May 15 and 16 at the Family Arena in St. Charles.
The keynote speaker during undergraduate ceremonies on Saturday, May 16, will be Brenda Newberry, chair and CEO of the Newberry Group, Inc. Lou Brock, former St. Louis Cardinal and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame will speak at the Baccalaureate and graduate commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 15.
Newberry founded the St. Charles-based information technology consultancy firm, The Newberry Group, Inc., in 1996. Today, the company has more than 100 employees across the United States and is one of the most impressive and innovative IT companies in the country.

As a St. Louis Cardinal, Brock helped his team win the National League pennant in 1963, ’67 and ’68 with World Series victories in ’64 and ’67. In his 19-year major league career, he set records for stolen bases during a single season, during a World Series, and for a career.
He was inducted into the baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1985 and named one of the top 100 players of the 20th century. He and his wife, Jacqueline, are ordained ministers and elders at Abundant Life Fellowship Church in St. Louis. In addition, he is the CEO and owner of Brock World in St. Louis.
Approximately 700 students are expected to take part in the graduate ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Friday; during which the university will award its annual Alumni Merit Award to Betty Osiek, Ph.D., (class of 1962). Nearly 850 graduating students will take part in the undergraduate ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Lindenwood University, founded in 1827, is an independent liberal arts university offering 84 undergraduate degree programs and 37 graduate programs in diverse areas of study in traditional and accelerated formats.
Lindenwood operates a residential campus in historic St. Charles, as well as 10 extension sites throughout the St. Louis region.
